The Town of Arlington plans to soon begin redeveloping the Veterans Memorial Park, next to the Central Fire Station, a news release said.
The honor roll will be removed and replaced by a granite wall with the engraved names of all Arlington veterans. More than 12,000 names are to be added to the roll.
The new roll is expected to be installed in July 2024. The town requests that veterans and/or family members review the list well beforehand to ensure that the name of the veteran is spelled correctly.
The director of veterans’ services is to keep the honor roll lists updated.
The town is now asking the public to help promote this project by sharing this information with family and friends.
Official records (military discharges) have been obtained from state records identifying Arlington veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam and current era (post-Vietnam to the present).
National Guard, Reserve personnel
At the recommendation of the Veterans Council, National Guard and Reserve personnel may be included on the roll. If you were mobilized and received a DD 214 following your service, you do not need to apply. Please verify that your name is listed in the current (post-Vietnam) list.
