This June, 16 colorful and newly designed LGBTQIA+ banners will hang throughout Arlington Center to honor Pride Month.
“Last year’s banners were very impressive, and I’m glad to have them again this year,” board member Len Diggins said March 29, when the Select Board unanimously approved the banners.
Select Board Handbook
Starting April 10, all Select Board members will receive a copy of the Select Board Handbook, including a code of conduct, as unanimously approved by the board.
Each handbook includes a signature page for board members to sign, to indicate that they’ve received and read the material, especially the code of conduct. (Signatures don’t necessarily mean the board members agree with the code, just that they’ve read it.)
Going forward, whenever a potential Select Board candidate takes out nomination papers, he or she will receive this handbook, along with the signature page, so each knows what is expected after an election win.
“We need proper conduct among our board of counsel. In at least six local communities, when people run for town Select Boards or city councils, they get a Select Person Handbook,” said board member Diane Mahon.
The board also recommended that other town boards and commissions comply with this handbook.
