Not everything's pricy at Brigham site: Affordable options available

Applications are available for the affordable rental apartments at Alta Brigham Square, the former Brigham's Ice Cream Factory, at 30-50 Mill St.

Seventeen affordable rental units available (three studios, five one-bedrooms and nine two-bedrooms), Laura Wiener, director of housing, reported Nov. 28.

Studios are listed at $941 a month. One-bedrooma are $1,068 a month. Two-bedrooms are $1,185 a month.

Rent does not include utilities, except water and sewer.

Alta Brigham Square is a 116-unit apartment building one-half block from Mass. Ave., near Arlington Center.

Affordable apartments include designer finishes, such as plank flooring in kitchen and bath; granite countertops; stainless steel appliances; upgraded espresso-colored designer cabinetry; oversized kitchen islands; and tile surrounds in baths. Community amenities include a wellness center with cardio salon and an outdoor lounge with a gas-fired grill and one fireplace.

The maximum income limits for Households are:

1-person, $45,500    2-person, $52,000

3-person, $58,500    4-person, $65,000

A public-information session has been scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 10, at 6 p.m. in the Arlington Senior Center Mural Room (27 Maple St., next to Town Hall).

Completed applications and required income documentation must be received, not postmarked, by 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30.

The lottery will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, in the Arlington Senior Center Mural Room.

Applications and information are also available at the Robbins Library on 700 Mass Ave in Arlington (M-W 9-9, Thurs 1-9, Fri+Sat 9-5, Sun 2-5), and the Arlington Planning Department, 730 Mass. Ave., Arlington (M-W 8-4, Thurs 8-7, Fri 8-noon).
