AFD patch

Police and fire officials are investigating after a bench was apparently set ablaze inside a lavatory at Arlington High School on Monday, Nov. 13.

Police believe the fire was intentionally set, and the incident is under investigation by both departments. The state Fire Marshal's Office is also responding to the scene.

Fire and police responded to the high school at 1:54 p.m. for a reported fire, and a small blaze found in the girls' bathroom was quickly extinguished.

No one was hurt. The fire was confined to the bathroom, and there was no other damage to the building.

The Downs Building of Arlington High School was evacuated during the incident.
