UPDATED Dec. 19: Sabatino D'Agostino, music teacher and conductor at Arlington High School, has been named a semifinalist for the 2023 Wasabi Fenway Bowl Honor Roll. This annual award is given to recognize educators throughout New England who have gone above and beyond to support their students, according to its website and a recent news release.

More than 300 nominations were collected earlier this fall. D'Agostino is among the 27 semifinalists who are set to each receive $400 grants to support their classrooms.

"Needless to say, I am extremely honored to have received such a wonderful award from such a great organization," D'Agostino wrote in an email to YourArlington.

The Wasabi Fenway Bowl is a football game played at the historic baseball stadium. The inaugural game was last year, according to Sean Hathaway of Issues Management Group, which sent the release, and the game now is set to return to Fenway at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, when the Boston College football team is slated to play against Southern Methodist University.

Teachers nominated for the Honor Roll are invited to attend the game.

"I’ve watched this game on TV and have seen colleagues from New England being awarded. I’ve admired the work that these colleagues of minehave done for their school systems, and never would I have thought that I could’ve been at Fenway Park one day and receive the same award," wrote D'Agostino, who is also known by his nickname "Tino."

According to the news release, this year’s awards bring the grant total by the Wasabi Fenway Bowl to more than $100,000 for more than 120 educators across New England. The grants are provided by the Wasabi Fenway Bowl in partnership with Extra Yard for Teachers, Sam Adams, Amica Insurance, Moderna and Meet Boston.
