UPDATED Jan,. 7: The Arlington Friends of the Drama has announced that its next production, "Pippin," has been canceled because of Covid-19 and that the date and time for the tribute to the late James Grana has been postoned.
"Pippin" was to open in late February, but the ongoing pandemic has led the nonprofit to go dark for a period.
The celebration of Grana's life was to at the theater, at 22 Academy St., at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, a day earlier than originally planned, but it has been postoned because of the pandemic

He was a member of AFD for 45 years. He was ever-present, greeting friends new and old with his exuberant warmth and outgoing and welcoming personality.
A Nov. 30 email to supporters says: "It's still hard to believe this force of nature has left us. Please plan on joining us as we pay tribute and give thanks to this man who meant so much to so many.
"He contributed greatly to our theater, and we are the better for having had him in our lives."
Jimmy's 85th birthday would have been Jan. 28, so a large cake will be involved.
