UPDATED June 23: Torrential rain delayed Porchfest -- Arlington's free, festive, one-day-only music extravaganza -- by one day, to Sunday, June 18, the Arlington Center for the Arts' sixth.
Music from porches was presented townwide from noon to 4 p.m. west of Arlington Center and from 2 to 6 east of Arlington Center. From 6 to 8, hundreds rocked to garage band BackPocket at Abe’s Global Service Station on Mass.Ave., East Arlington.
The Porchfest website says that if you are a participating porch or band, please visit its announcement page for more info on how to confirm your Sunday participation.
ACMi News keeps rhythm:
Porchfest is a grass-roots music festival where bands play on front porches across town. People walk, bike or drive around to enjoy six hours of free outdoor music, performances and visual-arts exhibits.
Afterward, are you ready to rock? The gar age band BackPocket plays -- and you dance -- from 6 to 8 p.m.
Arlington’s homegrown music and dance party makes its rockin’ return after Porchtest. Arlington band BackPocket is tuning up for its appearance at Arlington’s coolest outdoor venue, Abe’s Global Service Station on Mass.Ave., East Arlington.
The garage gets a redesign with a stage, sound equipment, and a side street is closed for room to dance and socialize.
BackPocket is an ensemble originally from Morningside Music Studio, featuring local accomplished musicians and a Cuban-born percussionist along with backup singers "The Torchtones." The band looks forward to sparking your urge to dance and fully enjoy a summer evening.
