24th King observance at Town Hall held Jan. 16

Martin Luther King Jr.

Arlington plans to hold its 24th annual observance of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday on Monday, Jan. 16, in Town Hall.

Haji Shearer, the director of the fatherhood initiative at the Children's Trust Fund, will be the featured speaker at the event.

The Arlington High School Orchestra and Madrigal Singers will perform.

Anyone attending is being asked to bring cookies or a bar-type dessert to share with five people beginning at 7 p.m. This is a change of menu and time from previous programs.

The observance program will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Admission is free, but donations will be collected to benefit programs that further King's goals for equality, justice and nonviolence. Donations of nonperishable food will also be accepted for the Arlington Food Pantry.

For more information, call 781-643-4345.
