Arlington wins, but is eliminated from Babe Ruth Series

Arlington's Babe Ruth All-Stars, New England champs, beat Vancouver, Wash., the Pacific Northwest champion, 9-3, with six runs in the ninth inning on Wednesday, Aug. 25. See the box score here. The win evened their record to 2-2, but they were eliminated.

Arlington beat host team Loudon County, Va., 6-0, on Monday, Aug. 23, and then lost, 12-9, on Tuesday, Aug. 24 to Bryant, Ark., the Southwest regional champ, which scored nine runs in the seventh. The town team is now 1-2 after losing to Waite Park, Minn., the Midwest Plains champ, 8-1, on Saturday, Aug. 21.

A number of those on the town's team have been to a Series before, in 2008, when they were Cal Ripken champs. In that event, the boys came away with two wins before elimination.

Arlington beat Pittsfield, 13-6, Wednesday, Aug. 11, after losing earlier that day, 8-4, the town team's first loss of the season, in the finals of the 2010 New England Regional 14-year-old Tournament.

Both games were broadcast via Ustream.tv on YourArlington.

Arlington got into the championship game after a 12-0 win over Western Massachusetts champ Pittsfield. Today's games are played at Bullens Field, Westfield. Pittsfield beat Westfield, 7-2, Aug. 10.
