Bodie reported to be superintendent finalist in Swampscott

Kathleen Bodie

Kathleen Bodie has not said publicly whether she is seeking the permanent superintendent position in Arlington, but she is among three finalists for a similar job in Swampscott, a Web site reported March 4. Wicked Local in Swampscott says the School Committee in that North Shore town will interview three, including Bodie, at public meetings. The dates and times have yet to be announced.

Bodie, the interim superintendent since Nate Levenson resigned in August 2007, was asked to comment March 5 but has not responded. Her Arlington contract for the $155,000-a-year job ends in June.

The other candidates in Swampscott are reported to Lynne Celli Sarasin, former deputy superintendent of Lexington public schools, and Edward Costa II, East Longmeadow superintendent of schools.

The consultant for the Swampscott search in Future Management Systems, the Web site says. Among the team members of that company are Susan Lovelace, a former Arlington School Committee member, and Levenson.

On Tuesday night, March 9, the School Committee, to meet at Town Hall, is scheduled to hear a report from  Leba Heigham, chair of the the Superintendent Search Subcommittee. The agenda says the following are expected to occur:

    -- Naming of the superintendent finalist's;

    -- Planning of the public interview; and

    -- Format of each finalist's visit to Arlington.

This story was published Friday, March 5, and updated twice.
