For Arlington High School seniors, the close of their final year is fast approaching. Here is information provided to parents by Principal Charles A. Skidmore.
Graduation is scheduled for Peirce Field at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 7. If the graduation is outside on the field, no tickets are needed. If the graduation ceremony is inside in the Toz Gym, due to inclement weather, tickets will be required.
Â
Each senior receives five tickets. Tickets will be provided for seniors after the graduation rehearsal on Friday, June 5.
The graduation ceremony lasts about 1 hour 20 minutes. Dress for graduation is as follows: Boys must wear a shirt, tie, and long pants. Absolutely no shorts or sandals. Girls can wear skirt, dress or pants. Absolutely no shoes with high, thin heels. These shoes will damage the turf.
The senior prom is set for Monday, June 1, at the Danversport Yacht Club. Seniors have selected their diploma names and voted for their Last Blast design. Caps and gowns, at $28, are on sale from teacher Nanci Ortwein. Cash is accepted but checks, made out to the AHS general fund, are preferred.
Yearbooks, at $90, are still on sale. If the deposit has been paid, the balance is due. Last Blast tickets will be sold after senior final exams (price still to be determined).
Other activities are planned for the Class of 2009. On Thursday, June 4, the class will enjoy its annual awards night in Lowe auditorium.
Students receiving an award or scholarship will get an invitation sent to their house. However, everyone is welcome to attend. There will be a cookout another day.
