New school subcommittees include legal review

School Committee logo As two new members joined the Arlington School Committee on Tuesday, April 13, fresh from election wins -- Kirsi Allison-Ampe and Judson Pierce -- new committee Chairman Joseph Curro Jr. announced assignments for the next year.

Curro noted that he had reduced subcommittees from five to four, had added a member to the contract negotiations panel and had established a temporary panel to review legal services.

The contract for the committee's legal firm, Stoneman Chandler & Miller, ends in May. Before she declined to seek reelection, committee member Denise Burns, a persistent critic of that firm, urged the committee to review its performance.

Named to the Legal Services Review Subcommittee were Curro, chair; Thielman and  Pierce. The latter two are attorneys. 

All changes were approved, 7-0.
