| Arlington police Aug. 22-29: Car break-ins, tree on fire, tomatoes hit house |
|
The Arlington Police Department responded to a wide variety of calls for service during the week of Aug. 22-29. A sampling of those calls appears below. • On Monday, Aug. 23, at 12:27 p.m., police were called to Pleasant Street on a report that a vehicle had been broken into overnight. The center console and glove box were opened and items moved around, but nothing appeared to have been taken. The vehicle’s ignition was also damaged during the incident, which is under investigation. Patrol Officer Ed Walsh took the report. • On Friday, Aug. 27, at 6:06 p.m., police were called to Egerton Road for another car break-in. There police found that a purse had been removed from the vehicle and left on the victim’s porch. Nothing was taken from either the porch or the vehicle. Patrol Officer Brett Blanciforti took the report. • On Saturday, Aug. 28, at 7:54 p.m., police were called to Temple Street after a resident heard a loud bang outside and found that the house and front yard had been pelted with tomatoes. No damage occurred to the property, and police will step up patrols of the area. Patrol Officer Matt Riley took the report. • On Sunday, Aug. 29, at 7:15 p.m., police and fire-rescue were called to the intersection of Lockeland and Wildwood avenues for a report of a tree on fire. The first arriving fire company quickly extinguished the flaming flora, which they believe to have been caused by careless disposal of a cigarette. |
