Serious charges dropped against woman, 48, after stabbing

A judge has dismissed without prejudice a charge of intent to kill filed in June against an Arlington woman. Also dropped was the charge of possession of an illegal substance and replaced with possession of the prescription drug Xanax.

Deborah M. Canejo, 48, of 13 Scituate St., was ordered to serve 30 days on the charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The orders were filed June 26, town police said.

An earlier report said Canejo was held without bail after she was arraigned June 22 on charges of assault with intent to murder in the stabbing of Brendan Coye, 31, of 100 Claremont Ave.

Police said the suspect and victim are not related and live separately.
