| Arlington police Feb. 14-21: Arrest, assault, car theft |
|
• On Monday, Feb. 15, at 7:23 a.m., an Arlington police officer was flagged down by a man requesting assistance with a domestic situation. The officer went up to the man’s apartment, where he said that his girlfriend was throwing things. Officers spoke to both the man and his girlfriend, who told them that he had been drinking all night and had physically assaulted her several times, though she declined medical attention. As a result, police arrested William Ciarmataro*, 25, of Mass. Ave. in Arlington, on charges of domestic assault and battery. Additionally, Ciarmataro told police that his girlfriend hit him as well, and police will seek a complaint against her for domestic assault and battery. Patrol Officers Brian Fennelly and David Martin responded. • On Monday, Feb. 15, at 9:08 p.m., police were called to the Germaine Lawrence school/group home for a reported student disturbance. The incident appears to have began when a staff member told a student to stop using the phone, which agitated her and required staff members to restrain her. During this time, another student tried to become involved, assaulting staff members, and creating a second disturbance. She began biting the staff, and using a chair as a weapon, so staff called police. Police will seek criminal complaints against the student who assaulted staff members, a 14-year-old girl. Patrol Officers Neil Simard, Brad Chella, and Brian Fennelly responded. • On Friday, Feb. 19, at 2:08 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of the George Street/ Oakland Avenue intersection for a multicar accident. The accident occurred when one of the drivers did not stop at a stop sign, which was admitted to, and struck another vehicle in the intersection. The impact sent the second car into a utility pole. Both cars needed to be towed from the scene, and the driver who ran the stop sign was cited. Patrol Officers Anthony Bongiorno, Greg Foley, and Steve Porciello responded. • On Sunday, Feb. 21, at 6:24 p.m., police took a report from a woman whose car had been stolen early Sunday morning. Her daughter had borrowed the car and the previous night, had allowed a designated driver to use the car. However, the designated driver allegedly made off with the car instead of returning it. State Police were also contacted, because the theft did not occur in Arlington. Patrol Officer Brandon Wenz took the report. *All arrested persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. |
