| Arlington police Feb. 1- Feb. 8: Arrests, tagging, threats alleged |
|
• On Monday, Feb. 1, at 4:56 p.m., police responded to Florence Terrace for a disturbance occurring in the street. The incident led to the arrest of Frank Janusz*, 54, and of Florence Terrace for disorderly person. Police had received a call from a neighbor reporting that Janusz was yelling at the occupant of a parked car and his neighbor’s house, making threatening gestures at his neighbor, and walking down her driveway to look into her window. When officers arrived, they found Janusz intoxicated, and yelling at his neighbors and passing cars that they had no right to call police about him. After warning him to quiet down several times, police took him into custody due to the fact that he was causing a disturbance in the neighobrhood. Patrol Officers Robert Gamez and James Kiernan responded. • On Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 4:45 p.m., an officer was flagged down while on patrol by a citizen who reported a group of teenagers loitering behind a Mass. Ave. business. The officer was investigating the report when he found newly committed vandalism on the building, consisting of blue spray paint used to deface the surface. The officer spoke to the group, and found the same paint on the hands of a 14-year-old male who was behind the building when the vandalism occurred. Police will seek a court complaint against the juvenile for tagging. • On Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 1:35 a.m., police were dispatched to the intersection of Mass. Ave. and Park Avenue for a motor vehicle crash. The incident led to the arrest of John Cox*, 33 and of Summer Street for operating under the influence of alcohol. Cox, whose vehicle hit a utility pole on Park Avenue, failed field sobriety tests and two in-field Breathalyzer tests, after admitting to officers that he had consumed three pints of alcohol that night. Patrol Officers Mike Wesley and Doug Cronin responded. • On Thursday, Feb. 4, at 9:16 a.m., police responded to a church on Concord Turnpike for a report of an ongoing dispute between a church employee and neighbor of the church. The employee alleged that a resident who lives nearby threatened to damage her vehicle, but officers spoke to the neighbor, who stated that he was simply warning her that vehicles have been struck while parked where she had parker her car that day, and that no threat was intended. Police advised the two to avoid contact with each other. Patrol Officer Dennis Mahoney responded. *All arrested persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. |
