Bishop School student Liam Barthelmy, at right, is the fourth-grade winner of the UMass. Lowell Youth Composition Festival 2012.
This year's concert was held Saturday, May 19, UMass. Lowell's Fischer Recital Hall, in Durgin Hall.
Barthelmy was one of 25 students from grades 3-12 who submitted compositions for this year's festival. He is a piano student of Jennifer Kean Choe.
Now in its 12th year, the festival accepts submissions of music compositions from students K-12 from all over the state of Massachusetts. From the submissions, at least one winner from each grade is chosen to have his/her piece performed at a concert.
