Coughlin/Bouris fund raiser held Nov. 19 in Cambridge

A fund raiser for Stavroula Bouris and Chuck Coughlin was held Thursday, Nov. 19, at Frank's Steakhouse, 2310 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, according to Nanci Ortwein, a teacher at Arlington High School. The information was posted to the Arlington e-mail list Nov. 19, but the poster declined to provide permission to publish.

"After a long two years," Ortwein wrote in an e-mail Nov. 19, "the recent decision in favor of Chuck Coughlin has encouraged many. We wanted to get people together in an informal gathering. In addition, obviously two years out of work has taken its toll on the family, so we won't turn away donations of any size to take with them for their needs and for the holiday season."

Bouris, a former Ottoson principal, and Coughlin, a former teacher, were fired in 2007. Bouris's case remains in arbitration. An arbitrator ruled Oct. 27 that Coughlin should reinstated, but the decision was appealed Nov. 12.
