Legal bills mount as town's schools face $2.2m shortfall

Legal bills for the Arlington public schools have added up to more than $500,000 since June 2007, The Boston Globe reported in its West edition on Sunday, Oct. 18 >>

The report says the majority of bills, which were obtained through a public-records request, relate to the 2007 cases of fired teacher Chuck Coughlin and principal Stavroula Bouris. The report does not provide an exact accounting of how much is attributed to these cases, and the accounting covers the period from June 1, 2007, to Sept. 1. A decision in the Coughlin arbitration is now expected Nov. 2. Last week, YourArlington requested an accounting of the bills in these cases from June 2007 to the present.
