Herald, union endorse Garballey; Advocate takes no stand |

The Herald has endorsed Sean Garballey, saying "youthful energy" is needed Beacon Hill. Boston's second-ranked daily newspaper in terms of circulation said in an editorial Jan. 31, "He deserves a shot." The Globe, Boston's top-ranked daily, earlier endorsed Jeff Thielman, the other key rival in the race for the 23rd Middlesex district. The National Association of Government Employees, with 22,000 workers in more than 60 state agencies in Massachusetts, also endorsed Garballey. The Arlington Advocate did not take a position. Instead, its
editor, in an opinion headlined "A divided editorial," found reasons to
