Edward Dever, athletic director at Arlington High School, provided the
following wrapup of sports events on Jan. 26 and 27 at the Veterans
Memorial Sports Center, and elsewhere.
It was nice to see the Arlington Sports Center packed like the old days on Saturday. A large number of students showed up to watch Arlington play Waltham in boys' hockey.
Arlington gave the No. 6 team in the state all could handle before falling, 4-3. Arlington was down 3-0 but came back to tie the game, before giving up a power play goal to end the second period.
Following the boys' game, the girls beat Waltham, 1-0.
On Sunday our boys' hoop team beat Taunton, 67-66, a team they lost to earlier in the year by more than 20.
The AHS wrestling team went 3-0 in a quad meet they participated over the weekend.
The most exciting part of a full sports weekend came Sunday night, when the AHS girls' hockey team beat Arlington Catholic, 2-0. The girls are now No. 4 in the state, according to the rankings Jan. 29 in The Boston Globe.
