NO LONGER CANDIDATES

Susan Lovelace, 20 Amherst, chair of the Arlington School Committee, has dropped out of the running. She told supporters in an e-mail Dec. 29:

"Unfortunately the timing of the special election was a challenge for me, and we were a few signatures short of the 150 validated ones eeded to get on the ballot.

"As you all know, I have a passion for public policy and will look forward to future professional opportunities to take best advantage of that interest."

Rainville said Lovelace's papers had 146 signatures.

Suzanne Gordon, 11 Ely Road, responded Dec. 30 to to a request for a statement from YourArlington. She wrote: "sorry but I am no longer involved because they invalidated too many Working Families party signatures." Rainville clarified that statement, saying she received enough signatures on the Democrat side. Gordon then wrote Dec. 31: "no I am no longer a candidate."

Corinne Rainville, Arlington town clerk, confirmed Dec. 26 that her office ran out of nomination papers. Ciano and Lovelace got their papers in Medford.
