Here is a guide to submitting news for publication at YourArlington.com.
To use the Submit News button of YourArlington, you must be a registered user. To become one, click here >>
To find the Submit News button, log on with your username and password.
Click on Submit news, the first item on the dropdown under Your menu.
That brings up windows into which you:
1.) Put a headline (title);
2.) Choose a story category (there are many more than those listed; just choose "Latest news," and the publisher may make another choice when he reviews your submission); and
3.) Enter your story in the two larger windows provided. Your "lead," or the top of your story, goes in the upper story window. The rest of the story goes in the window below that.
Note: It's best to save the story you want to submit in plain text (make sure to uncheck word wrap, or you will have to remove all the hard returns). Then copy and paste that text into the editing windows. Using Word documents or formatted files can result in stories in which code show up, depending on the browser used.
As you edit, it's best to hit the check-mark button, which saves your file but leaves it on the screen for further editing.
Once you have text placed in the editing windows, then you may use the tools above those windows to add some basic formatting, such as bold or italics.
If you are ready to finally submit your story for posting, click the Save icon (to the left of the check-mark button). Your story will be reviewed for publication.
At this point, it's best to let the publisher know you have sent a story via
