Plans to reconfigure the Thorndike/Magnolia parking area are in the works -- but are in the very early design and discussion stage. The plans aim to improve traffic flow, so that cars do not have to back out or make a three-point turn when the lot is full.

 

They also aim to add some spaces, to lessen the impact of the recreational uses on the neighborhood.

 

A feasibility study was done with a couple of alternatives sketched and some preliminary cost estimates given.

 

Before anything is decided or done, a number of steps must take place. The Park & Rec Commission is working with the Transportation Advisory Committee on this and will be talking to neighbors, Arlington Redevelopment Board, Conservation Commission and the Arlington Bicycling Advisory Committee.
