Effort aims to make small business Web-smart at Town Hall

Chamber  event TO FEATURE marketing ADVISERS

eBiz logoThe Arlington Chamber of Commerce, with support from the Town of Arlington, delivered the first eBUSINESS Symposium to 200 small-business leaders from greater Boston on Friday, Oct. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., in Town Hall. It provided an interactive setting in which small businesses and entrepreneurs learned how their small businesses can grow using Web, e-mail and social-marketing tools and techniques. Participants had numerous net working opportunities with knowledgeable presenters, relevant sponsors and peers from the area.

The eBUSINESS Symposium is a full-day conference featuring such noteworthy keynote speakers as author Michael Katz of Blue Penguin Development Inc. and BU lecturer Beth Goldstein of Marketing Edge Consulting Group.

Attendees will learn how to maximize the latest eBusiness marketing solutions, including search engine optimization (SEO), Web site design, social marketing, and e-mail newsletters, to encourage their businesses to grow and boost their bottom line.

Other features of the symposium include presentations from Brick Marketing, JBS Partners Inc., and A-Type Marketing + Design, interactive table sessions hosted by event sponsors and various networking opportunities.

Early bird registration for the conference is $100 for any member of an area Chamber of Commerce or SBN Boston and $150 for nonmembers (group rates available). A limited number of additional sponsorships are available.

About YourArlington

Bob SpragueYourArlington.com is an experiment in community journalism dedicated to reporting news about Arlington, Mass., and the Arlington-related views of its residents. The experiment not unique but is part of a nationwide movement called "citizen journalism." The phrase gained currency through We the Media, a 2004 book by Dan Gillmor. This kind of journalism encourages members of a community to write about that community. The writing may be reporting, or it may be opinion.
