The one-act play "School Daze" will be performed at OMS on Thursday,
Nov. 20 and Friday, Nov. 21, both days at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets cost $5. We hope that you will
join us. The play is a well-done snap shot of middle school life.
First-term report cards were to have gone home with students on Thursday, Nov. 20.
Arlington will be celebrating a 25-year relationship with its sister city, Nagaokakyo, Japan, in 2009. Students from OMS and AHS have an opportunity to visit Nagaokakyo from July 6-July 16, 2009.
They will stay with host families and visit the city hall, schools, temples, shrines and surrounding cities of Kyoto and Osaka as representatives of the town of Arlington. The OMS lunchtime girls' and boys' book groups will be beginning soon. The girls' book group will meet on Dec. 3 and will discuss A Step from Heaven by An Na. The OMS media center has several copies of the book. The boys' book group will meet on Dec. 17 to discuss Airborn by Kenneth Oppel. Students are asked to bring a bag lunch. Sign-up procedures will be explained in the bulletin and morning announcements.
Conferences begin on Nov. 24 (6-9 p.m.). If you have not already
done so, please sign up electronically by going to the Ottoson link on
the APS website. Conferences will also be held on December 3
(12:30-2:30 p.m.), December 10 (6-8 p.m.) and December 12 (12:30-2:30
p.m.).

Basketball tryouts for both girls' and boys' teams are ongoing. The league season begins Dec. 18.
Several homerooms are assembling Thanksgiving baskets for local
families. If you are interested in making a donation of non-perishable
food items or a gift certificate to Stop & Shop, please stop by the
office with your donation by Friday, Nov. 21.
When you receive your student's report card, please sit down with
her/him to discuss her/his first term work. Report cards are only one
measure of a student's development. If you have concerns, please
contact your student's subject teacher and/or guidance counselor.
Picture retake day is Thursday, Nov. 20, at 8 a.m. Prepaid envelopes are available in the main office.
