An unidentified Arlington woman, alleging a bribe attempt and saying she was groped, expects to be in court June 30 to argue that the Middlesex district attorney should file charges against Sen. J. James Mazilli Jr., now at McLean's Hospital. The Boston Globe reported June 17 what it called "the unusual step," quoting the woman's attorney, Wendy Murphy. She said her client decided to
ask a Cambridge District Court magistrate to bring charges after
Marzilli refused her request for an apology, the paper reported.

Corey Welford, Leone's spokesman, said June 16 that unless there is
new evidence, the district attorney will not prosecute the case, even
if the magistrate issues the complaint, the paper said.
The Globe reported that in the woman's statement, she said that, a few days after the
alleged attack, a private investigator visited the woman and urged her
to drop the charges.
The private investigator "told her that the
defense investigation of her background would be very painful." the
statement said. The investigator said Marzilli was sorry and wanted to
offer something "to make this go away," the statement said, according to The Globe. The woman, who viewed the offer as a bribery attempt, reported it to Arlington police, the statement said.
Marzilli's attorney, Terrence Kennedy, denied the alleged bribe attempt, the newspaper said.
