Arlington police are investigating another bank robbery, this one Tuesday, May 13, at Brookline Savings in which an undetermined amount of cash was taken. Chief Fred Ryan said police are seeking a white male, 5-feet-8 to 6 feet tall with a medium build and beard in his 20s. The man walked into the bank at 856 Mass. Ave., across from Arlington High School, about 1:43 p.m. and passed a note demanding cash.
Police said he was wearing a black ball cap and a black pullover
sweatshirt. Arlington detectives are investigating along with the FBI.
"It is unclear at this time if this person is responsible for any prior bank robberies," Ryan wrote in an e-mail May 14.
An Arlington resident who did not want to be identified told
YourArlington that at 2:25 p.m. May 13 police, including Chief Ryan,
were at the bank. A note on the door apologized to customers about
being closed and directed them to other branches.
On Tuesday, April 22, Leader Bank at 141 Mass. Ave., in East Arlington, was robbed.
Around
11:15 a.m., a roughly 6-foot tall man wearing sunglasses and a
maroon-hooded sweatshirt passed a note to one of the bank’s
tellers demanding money and claiming he had a weapon, police said. The man was clean-shaven and wore dark jeans, police said.
That same morning, two banks in Belmont were reported robbed.
