Three Arlington Democratic candidates for the Fourth Middlesex
Senate District will be eligible for the primary, based on the number
of signatures certified by the town clerk’s office. Democrats
Jack Hurd, Jim Marzilli and Ken Donnelly, gathered more than the 300
required signatures in Arlington alone.
Republican candidate and
Billerica resident Brion Cangiamila also took out papers to run for the
seat Marzilli has held since his special election victory last December. Cangiamila lost to Marzilli in that election.

To
appear on the Sept. 16 primary ballot, the candidates must have their signatures certified. April 29 was the deadline for candidates to turn in signatures.
The district includes Arlington; Billerica;
Burlington; Lexington, Precincts 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7; and Woburn, wards
1, 3, 5, 6 and 7.
Last August, longtime senator, Robert A. Havern, stepped down from the seat, leading to a number of special elections.
