Burns elected new School Committee chairwoman PDF Print E-mail

Denise BurnsThe Arlington School Committee elected Denise Burns as its new chairwoman April 8. Joseph Curran was elected vice chairman, and Ron Spangler is the new secretary before the committee's regular meeting April 8. According to the policy described below, Curran was in line for chairman.


March 12: Procedure for new leadership

Burns wrote in an e-mail April 9 that Curran nominated her for chair and the committee seconded and voted on it unanimously.

Curran was then unanimously voted in as vice chair, and Spangler was unanimously voted in as secretary.

"No rules were waived," she wrote. "The policy states that the senior member who has not served in an office who wishes to serve in that office is next in line for it."
