Because of popular demand, the Summer Day program age range has been expanded to include those 6-11. Registration wwas to close May 1 but has been extended. Registration is easy online at act.arlington.ma.us/. ACT's summer day program is expanded this year to five weeks. Participants can register for one or multiple weeks.
Here's a sneak preview at what the M-F 9-4 schedule might look like:
9 a.m.-noon: Kids participate in a variety of workshops, including theater games, acting, improvisation, voice/singing, and movement/dance. Each workshop is led by a theater-education professional, all of whom have experience as performers.
Noon-1 p.m.: Lunch outside, weather permitting. (Participants should bring a lunch and sunscreen.) Instructors accompany the group, along with junior counselors and CITs, so there is lots of supervision.
1-3 p.m.: Rehearsals for selections from "Seussical: The Musical!" with a performance for parents and friends on Friday. New material from the musical will be rehearsed each week, so multiple-week participants will have a whole new week of fun! Each participant has their moment to shine and no prior acting or singing experience is required.
Registration is open online at act.arlington.ma.us The cost is $275/week, with a discount for multiple-week registration. Extended day is available from 8:30 a.m.until 4:30 p.m.
