It's on to Gillette Stadium. Fresh off its 19-15 win over Arlington High, the Arlington Catholic football team upset Swampscott in the MIAA Division 3 semifinal game at Peirce Field Tuesday night, 22-9. The Cougars beat the Northeastern Small Division champions.
The winner will play Tri-Valley champ Norton`in Saturday's Super Bowl at Gillette. Norton beat Abington, the South Shore champion, 14-6, at Bridgewater-Raynham Tuesday night.

On Nov. 24, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Patrolmen Blanciforti and Gina Bassett, along with Sgt. Ron Kerr, arrested Lisette Chomienne of Dickson Street. in Arlington. Police had been dispatched to Warren St. on a report of a car accident.

A doctor who lives in Arlington has been sending updates from Mumbai during the three days of terror there last week, WBUR has reported.
Arun Shanbhag, an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at Harvard Medical School, is visiting his parents who live a block from the Taj Hotel, where many of the attacks took place.
Almost from the start, Dr. Shanbhag has been posting photos and commentary on his blog, and sending updates via Twitter.

A fourth meeting aimed at resolving ongoing conflict
between dogs and neighbors of Arlington's parks is set to continue 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Senior Center. The aim of the four meetings, which began Nov. 6, is to find a
compromise between those who would like the town's leash law relaxed
and those who want it enforced. The result could be a warrant article
for the spring 2009 Town Meeting.

Arlington Children’s Theatre presents "James and the Giant Peach," featuring a talented cast of 25 actors ages
8 to 12 from nine local towns, in performances Friday, Dec. 5, through
Sunday, Dec. 7, at the Arlington Children’s Theatre at 41 Foster St.
The play by Richard George, directed by Kate Wisnioski and Matt Lundeen, assistant director, is adapted from the book by Roald Dahl.
First round of reductions proposed as schools face $1.75m shortfall
The Arlington School Committee voted 7-0 Nov. 25 to refer a proposed two-thirds' reduction of the ACE program for subcommittee study. Some committee members said they want to know the status of an effort to replace ACE with another program aimed at gifted and talented students.
The board also voted, 4-3, to support a one-day alcohol license for an adults-only fundraiser at the Dallin School. The license, said to set a precedent at a town school, would have to be approved by the selectmen.

Each guest participates in the Center for Cancer Support and Education, a grassroots, high-impact organization providing cancer support and wellness services to patients, caregivers, family members, and healthcare professionals in Arlington and in 11other communities. Mary Lewis Sheehan, the founder and board president of the center, and Ben Garton, the center's development director, talk about some of the Center's programs.
