The June edition of “The Public Square” focuses on Arlington’s experience with the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The show's host is School Committee member Jeff Thielman. Many have strong feelings about the war, but few are actively involved, either in fighting in the war or trying to stop it. This show seeks out Arlingtonians to provide their views.
Two Democratic candidates for the Fourth
Middlesex Senate seat have issued statements in response to
fast-moving, shocking events that have reshaped the race. In a related matter, the name of J. James Marzilli Jr. will remain on the September primary ballot. Republican Brion Cangiamila is mounting a write-in bid, The Boston Globe reported. Cangiamila told YourArlington in an e-mail June 20:
FBI released photo of robbery suspect at an unidentified bank.
The FBI has released surveillance photographs of a suspect in seven
Boston-area bank robberies, including one in May in Arlington, hoping
to spur tips from the public. The suspect is believed to be wearing a
large, black goatee, which may be fake. During these robberies, the
suspect enters the bank, passes a note to the teller and then takes the
note back. On occasion, the subject threatens to take a hostage.

Ten months after Chuck Coughlin was fired from teaching at Ottoson over
his role in allegedly forged and inappropriate e-mails, arbitration is
in its sixth month. Whether the process, begun in January, is plodding
or whether it is proceeding in a typical way depends on whom you ask.
May 10: Update on legal fees
The small block of retail stores at 469-475 Summer St., across from Buck Field, near the Veterans Memorial Sports Center, sustained an inside fire. The block houses the Arlington Café, an office for Crescent Plumbing and a nail salon called The Perfect Touch. As of Thursday night, a glass repairman could be seen working on the window of Arlington Café, which serves pizza among a variety of food.
