DeLeo eyes waiting to fill Arlington seat

Robert DeLeoHouse Speaker Robert DeLeo has told the State House News Service he is leaning against holding special elections, keeping open for about a year the seat held by Rep. William Brownsberger and Rep. Vincent Pedone. Brownsberger's 24th Middlesex seat in the district includes East Arlington. The Democrat won election Tuesday, Jan. 10, for a 2nd Suffolk and Middlesex seat in the state Senate, according to unofficial returns.

The news service quoted DeLeo as saying he wanted to avoid the expense of extra elections. Boston.com story >>
