The Arlington Democrat, whose district also includes a small piece of West Medford, announced on Facebook that he recently pulled his nomination papers, and InsideMedford reported that.

"Proud to say that I have pulled my nomination papers to run for State Representative," Garballey wrote. It has been an honor to serve the people of Arlington and Medford and I hope to continue my work."

Garballey was first elected as state representative in 2008 after serving on the Arlington School Committee.

State Senator Ken Donnelly, Democrat of Arlington, has also pulled nomination papers to run for reelection.
