How to advertise on YourArlington

Dear Arlington advertiser:

Advertising logoYourArlington.com is a Web site devoted to local news and information about Arlington. Managed by Bob Sprague, a former editor of The Advocate who has worked at the Globe and Herald, YourArlington is a growing news resource for our town. From December 2006, when it launched, until now, the site has seen its page views expand nearly 14 times – from 21,113 in January ’07 to 289,283 in February 2010.

Consider this: These serious surfers seeking Arlington news also could be viewing your advertisement.

We would like to help you use this effective way of reaching local customers by offering opportunities to advertise via online ads, classified, or, in the future, on the site’s new online business directory. You will pay the introductory rates in a variety of categories. To be an advertiser on YourArlington, you are invited to register.

To do that, follow these instructions >>

  • To learn about the sizes and positions of ads and their rates, as well as our policy, click here >>
  • When you advertise with YourArlington, you will have the benefit of OpenX, which includes a tracking system that provides details about how often surfers click on your ad. Newspaper companies may claim a certain number of readers. An online news site provides an exact accounting.

    About YourArlington

Bob SpragueYourArlington.com is an experiment in community journalism dedicated to reporting news about Arlington, Mass., and the Arlington-related views of its residents. The experiment not unique but is part of a nationwide movement called "citizen journalism." The phrase gained currency through We the Media, a 2004 book by Dan Gillmor. This kind of journalism encourages members of a community to write about that community. The writing may be reporting, or it may be opinion.
